More important things to concern oneself with are the much more “mundane” and material thingssuch as trade routes, migrations, plagues, geography, ones relation with court and armies, population, where barbarians were and why they targeted who they did, and the growth of cities and the bourgoise class. At the very least, doesn’t that sound a bit more like an intuitively plausible narrative?
Ultimately, you’re probably right. No one would disagree that there were advanced societies at different times around the planet, but it probably took circumstances to be “just right” for the modern world to blossom as it did. I guess Europe just happened to be in the Goldilocks zone!

Or it could be his imagination, or an optical illusion… I remember growing up talk about a haunt cemetary. If you drove by the cemetary at night you could see a ghost. Now what is more likely a ghost or the head lights reflecting off a road sign.
Beside these are two different things. The statement about how clever mankind is refers to the building of monuments and structures that you seem to believe is impossible without help. Seeing lights in the sky is totally unrelated. Unless you have evidence liking the two.
