I think why alot of people are statists is because they fear natural monopolies. Roads is prime example. People dont like the idea of potentially being excluded from roads because someone privately owns it. The state to them is that entity that doesnt disallow that restriction on movement, howeever ofcourse this ends when it get to the countries borders. I think to them the state is a social cooperative when they can vote and have there say on “their” particular area of land on the world. However they seem content with only a certain area of the world and not al of it. Which is why i think national identity is important and should always be taken into account.
