Does America have an empire?

If the money is made worthless through default, the Chinese can go pound salt.

They are the suckers in the deal. Boobus Americanus with his foam #1 finger, and Coors Light on Sundays watching Nascar or Football is the benefactor. The Chinese people work in the most horrible factory conditions (I have some experience with this), for barely any pay, and we (westerners) party like it’s 1989.

That’s why I don’t like people saying they are wage slaves. A chinese worker is a wage slave if anyone is. An American worker is riding on easy street in comparison.

It`s doubtful people watching Nascar are in the net benefiters of the Empire.

That sounds a lot like saying the plebians in Rome were net benefiters of the empire for getting bread and circusses funded by plunder and enslavement. Which can not stand before a consideration that if it werent for the oligarchs who made Rome into an empire, they would stil be on their farms and would not be dependant on the empires bread in the first place.

American political-military-corporate-buerocratic establishement screws everyone it can. It can afford to screw foreigners harder, but it will screw Americans as well. Imperialism does not have a different source and different aim than any other state policy. It`s not something that can be isolated from the rest of the state. Foreign conquest, welfare, central banking, economic subsidies, regulations they all have the same source. The ruling oligarchy. The people in control of the state. An they have the same aim. To make the oligarchy richer and more powerful at the expense of everyone else.

China can’t really do anything to the USA without causing itself a great deal of trouble.

Exactly, look what happened when Serbia presented a challenge to NATO hegomony in Europe. As I said, NATO is no longer relevant since the USSR collapsed.

But the US can’t really do anything to China either, which is probably the main reason they continue to foot the bill.

The U.S is not an empire. What is the most valuable currency in the world, while the rest of the worlds currencies lose value? It’s not the Euro, It’s not the U.S dollar, It’s the British Pound of course…Just a coincidence? I don’t think so…The british empire is live and well.Think that we got our independence from the crown through the American revolutionary war and the declaration of independence? Think again…

The USD became “the world currency” 1944. The ability to inflate huge amounts of currencies abroad is something of a tribute! Maybe it isn’t too far from the truth that Western European leaders have accepted this as a long term pay back for WW2 war costs and the Marshall plan?

Empires aren’t necessarily profitable. Even the UK is said to have paid more for military and infrastructure in many of its colonies than it got back (although some, like India, were tremendously profitable).
