Hi all,
there were couple of videos regarding the money creation out of thin air when the FED buys government bonds from banks & governments (is it too simplifed?).
But how does this work in EU and EURO? Does the ECB buy bonds issued by governments and as well creating money out of thin air, by sending them “a cheque” or money to their accounts?
And what about Franc? Or Norway, Denmark, Sweden. Where can I find such information?

As far as I know, the ECB does some buying of government bonds, but it mainly allows the banks to deposit them as ‘collateral’ when it loans them out money (this became notorious when it started to lower its standards to be able to accept Greek bonds)
The best introduction to the workings of the ECB is probably The Tragedy of the Euro.

France uses the Euro, see above. As for the other countries, they have their own currencies and their own policies, I don’t have materials on them. Google around and check their central bank’s pages for a start. If you find out more, please let us know.
