Things will not really change, not too much, especially when the politicals eventually come up with a convincing rationalization to further their own agendas.
This is already happening as steps towards the consolidated nation states (NAU, EU, etc.) is being called “restructuring global financial rules” or “cleaning up this mess” etc. The “evils” of the “free-market” are providing a very convenient scapegoat yet again, but you’ll have noticed it’s taking much more rhetoric than usual to spread the lie around again.
I agree that more will eventually see this, but not enough yet. When one speaks of the long-term fight against Statism (without going too much into an evolutionary assumption here), one means the really long-term. It may (or may not) take another one of these “crisis” to occur for enough individuals to realize that none of it is working.
The recent spike in sales of Marxist literature in Japan & Germany (among the youth) does not terribly encourage me at all, honestly, as not all of them will find flaws in Marxism & move on from there.
Not everyone is as cynical as I am, but I think the above is fairly realistic, sans an unforeseen silver lining (which i guess would be that the Internet hasn’t had it’s own “9/11”, to paraphrase Lawrence Lessig, just yet)

You should not be afraid if people are buying Marxist books.
This is a wake up calls for libertarians. If free enterprise wasn’t really given a chance, don’t we have a full range of ways to tell that to the world? Don’t we have a full library of books and resources at our disposal to share with the world?
Why so much pessimism? People should be free to read whatever they want.

I’m not against individuals reading Marxist literature at all, but I’m not going to pretend it signifies an advantage towards countering the trend towards less freedom.
I’m just expressing a justified worry that it may perhaps be “history repeating itself”, with Marxism being rationalized and/or validated (i.e. “Well, looks like he wasn’t kook afterall; look at what the free-market did to us!” or “We’ll just do this way, it’s sure to work this time!”) by a given individuals logic (which may or may not be rational).
I say this especially since the amount of ignorance I’ve experienced regarding pseudo-socialists on their soap box (in places online like Reddit), whenever I or someone else calls them out on it, is both astounding & de-moralizing. Sometimes, I think the Statists hardly need to do any more brainwashing, now that it has gone online & viral, with each brainwashee a self-replicating machine for idiocy & rotten logic
At the same time, I’m probably worrying myself over what could be a minor, reactionary trend. I’m not gonna draw conclusions just yet.

So we just have to work very hard in finding very good options to present in addition to those that are already being boasted by socialism. We should actually be excited that History is providing us this opportunity during our short lifetime on Earth.
I will try my best to help (which will mostly involve helping myself, friends & family out, as first priority, most likely), but I am not nearly as optimistic as some appear to be.
If I were completely solitary (socially, economically, & no family nearby or no family at all), this wouldn’t be an issue, & wouldn’t even be in this state right now. I regret I will probably not be on what one could consider the “front-lines” (I’d consider NH to be part of the front-line, at least in terms of proving the theoretical in execution). The RNC 8 were on the front-lines, & more confrontations like that may become likley and/or necessary.
On paper, this “Greater Depression” is perhaps a great opportunity; in execution, however, this will be one bitter pill to swallow & will not necessarily guarantee that enough individuals will realize the previous errors, especially when you have other’s campaigning those same errors with different wording as new solutions.
I will probably be more optimistic (ironically) when things get rolling & I know what I’m dealing with, rather than my current guessing & vauge forecasting.
