Do some googling. You can find prices for both in just about any area.
For example, the city of Newark spends about $22k/yr per pupil, and only graduates half of them. Private school tuition in the area runs about $5k-$9k.
I know in the D.C. area, public schools spend about $14k/yr per pupil, and most private school tuitions are roughly half that.
You’ll probably find that at in most areas, with public schools spending 50%-100% more per pupil, and public school teachers getting paid higher salaries.

I’m all for getting rid of all government, including government schools, of course.
But, first we have to open everyone else’s eyes before big changes start to happen.
My point is, that is great that this girl is homeschooled, or unschooled, or whatever you call it, but, all she talked about was not being able to read at 6 and how people react when she tells them she didn’t goto school. That is not very helpful. It would be nice if she gave us some measuable data, like SAT scores or something. An IQ test. Anything.
private high school in the D.C. area costs much more than 7K per year. Of course many of them are amongst some of the best schools in the country. The public schools in the counties are amongst the best in the country as well, not so much for the public schools in the district.
So Mark Zuckerberg could have stretched his donation three times further by paying children’s private school tuitions.
