Emerald Triangle

Emerald Triangle: three counties of Mendocino, Humboldt, and Trinity in Northern California. Two Thirds of their economy is based off marijuana. Even if police confiscated all the marijuana, they would wreck the economy in that particular region, even the mom and pop shops that do not participate in growing marijuana.

The counties also had plans to secede from California in joint effort with other counties in Oregon, and proposed to become the State of Jefferson.

Something like this fascinates me, because it shows that people will do whatever they want over the long term. Eventually what the people want will surface back up and with some group effort, the state can’t do SHIT.

The are just the first rats jumping from the sinking California debt ship. Keep in mind that their business is profitable, unsubsidized and probably keeping a whole lot more bureaucrats in Sacramento working, most are unfortunately involved in stopping their making of a moral, decent and honest living. Compare that these hyper subsidized businesses: TV and Movie Making, All other agriculture, War Making/Defense, Welfare, Finance, etc

AND YES the pot growers are much more moral and honest than the state workers. These people can only sell their products to willing buyers while the state steals money from its citizens.

Sorry, I was not accurate, change “All other agriculture” to “Most other agriculture”.

Sounds a lot like the book Ecotopia. It was recommended to me by a teacher I had once, started it, but it was a bit too hippy dippy for me.

Sadly Congress has to consent to changing states or new states.
