One girl copies another girl’s t-shirt design and does quite well for herself.

Discuss.

Well what better way to start than what you think of the topic?

As an artist myself who has sold items online (rubber stamps actually), I sort of look at it as the early bird catches the worm. If someone steals my stamp design and sells my own product better than I can sell it myself, I have been out-sold. Out-marketed. And the customers would give the credit/glory to the other seller.

And basically, it would sting my pride.

Doesn’t seem like a good enough reason to shut someone else’s store down, though.

The original seller seems to be missing a great marketing opportunity. Instead, she’s giving MORE publicity to the glitter person.

(And as a sidenote, wow, who knew there was such a hot market for milk carton T-shirts.)

Not the same shirt. The colors are different.

One hand, the copier is giving the consumers what they want. She took a product and expanded it’s reach to consumers. On the other hand. If the consumers value the original designers store more, they would patronize the original designer. If the private storefront frowns upon selling copied work. It is a form of self regulation.
