Examples of Fiat failures

I’m putting together a short essay on fiat currencies and how they inevitably fail. I am trying to make this a case through examples rather than logical deductions. Given the economic illiteracy of those who will be reading this, I don’t want to confuse them with terms they are not familiar with. I’m starting the essay with the continental dollar and will expand from there.

So do any of you know of some good examples of fiat failures? (Some reading suggestions would help as well)

Here’s a pretty good article. And another. However, both fail to mention the hyper-inflation of the Contintental in the United States. There are also a lot more contemporary currencies which have experienced collapse than are listed in the first article.

had some problems in the 1990’s. They kept printing too much money and eventually could not support the peg rate to the dollar. When it collapsed a famous Argentinean Economist from Harvard (I think) was called so solved the problem. He did solve it and was seen as a National Hero, but a few years later the govt kept abusing the numbers and the Economy stagnated.
