Fair trade coffee

Just a quick question about the Austrian economic approach to things like fair-trade coffee:

My gut feel is this is another example of artificially tampering with the markets for the benefit of a select few. Something like benefitting a small group of coffee producers at the cost of many consumers who are paying more for their coffee?
