I read a book called feed. It was basically a science fiction book that touched on some of today’s issues. In the book, people have feeds installed in their brains, which is basically a computer in your head.
I did not like the author’s view on advertising. In the book, the advertisements were tailored to your buying prefrences so that the advertisements detailed only products that you would actually want. The author’s opposition is shown through Violet, who tries to confuse the system by visiting lots of random places in the mall. I thought that this invention was actually great, as you would have better knowledge of how to satisfy your wants.
In the book, the people with feeds use “credit” inside their feeds. This creates a problem, how could you set it up so that people can’t create money out of nowhere and inflate the currency?
The thing I liked, however, was the portrayal of America. America was trying to colonize the moon, dominate foreign affairs, stopping protests against it, etc.
It also portrayed well how ignorant people are to the damage government causes. Hopefully, there is the Austrian School of Economics on this feedware, so people can get info in a moment’s thought, and begin to question the state.
