I’m having trouble understanding this. When did foreign policy = endless wars?
Maybe Dr. Ron Paul can ask the host of the next debate this question.
It’s not that foreign policy = endless wars so much as many sheeple in this country are afraid. It’s the Axis of Evil. Iraq, Iran, North Korea, China (I know China wasn’t on the list, but people seem to truly fear China), these countries are all seen as the next Nazi Germany - but only by the sheeple. The rulers know better. Since the sheeple think these other countries are run by the next Hitler, they think these countries need to be crushed. And to make it worse, they think the peasants of these other countries all love being ruled by a Hitler-to-be.
Its not just that they are afraid, it is also that they dont understand anything about warfare. Dont worry, neither do tptb
It’s kind of like Newt Gingrich answering a 20-something at a rally yesterday who asked what he has to look forward to as a hard-working 20 year old, and Gingrich responded something to the effect of, “you won’t have much to look forward to if Boston gets nuked.”
The scare tactics are so blatantly obvious when it comes to foreign enemies. It’s as if they sit back in a smoky room and plot how to exploit people’s xenophobia in a way that riles them up. Other states do the same exact thing (Iran preaches anti-Israeli and anti-American things, no matter how true or not true they may be). The war propaganda always seems plausible on the surface. A fun activity that one who bought into the Iraq War could do is go back and watch clips of how they manipulated the public into beating the war drums. It’s amazing how I fell for it.

But the mere fact that something is propaganda, doesn’t mean that Iran cannot be part of an “axis of evil”.
I think that if it were possible somehow to attack the government of the country without attacking the country itself, it would be perfectly legitimate.
In a democratic country there is the additional problem that the people think the government sincerely represents them. But in a despotic country, surely this isn’t a problem.
