“Costa said his request that the World Food Programme buy only Afghan wheat had been rejected by “free market ayatollahs who think political stability is less important than free market principles”.”
The whole article is a bit wierd and has plenty of screwed up reasoning, and I am not sure if the term ayatollah (not capitalized) is being used to refer to actual religious officials, or government officials.
