That’s what they said in 1974.
The same university currently involved in the climategate scandal on how it is an emergency and dire due to global warming for global legislation to take place.

from article below:
“President Nixon recently opened a ‘national dialogue’ on how to cope with inflation… inflation is a serious illness, and probably not susceptible to cure. Perhaps, like alcoholism, it may only be controllable and then through enormous exercise of will and self-discipline.”
propaganda run wild. with the carbon tax on the horizon to funnel back to fund the IMF, climate propaganda meets political propaganda permeating by the means of the economy.
They always say a billion people will/could/(Now)should starve without socialist government doing something to combat a problem that really does not exist. The simple fact is that the reason why people on the planet starve and why some don’t starve is because of socialism. So to keep the world from recognizing that fact the socialists since the mid 1800s have been dreaming up cataclysms to scare people into not using their brains and letting the socialists take control. The sad part is that it has been extremely successful despite giant failures like Communism, Global Cooling, now Global Warming, African Starvation, German and South American and Russian and African and Indian and … hyper-inflations.
A prime example of societal refication.
i actually clicked and listened to that. i’m usually not into the audio stuff, but it wasn’t that long and it was good.
“Never let a crisis go to waste” - Rahm Emanuel
If it isn’t war doom or pestilence doom (read: Swine Flu, Bird Flu, SARS, etc. etc.) it’s climate doom.
Heaven forbid the bureaucrats aren’t able to regulate the weather.
Probably most of you weren’t around back then… thanks for the memories!
It took us completely by surprise when we were told all of a sudden the same Polar bears that were going to starve because of the “intense cold” six months before were now going to starve because of the “intense heat”.
I’m aware of the “global cooling” muppetry back in the 70’s.
But I’m pretty confused about a lot of AGW people saying the globe has been cooling for 10 years. Admittedly I’ve yet to look that hard, but so far every source I’ve seen has shown temperatures going clearly up since the 70’s, and rather quickly. Where are the sources for counter claims?
The problem is there isn’t a clear, uniform trend. Some weather stations reported an increase in temperature, other a drop. In my area after the Great Snowstorm of 1985 we had a succession of very mild, very dry winters. We often didn’t see a drop of rain from November to March. After the Great Heatwave of 2003 we experienced a marked drop in temperatures, with winters getting longer and colder. Starting in 2007 summers also started to become cooler and wetter. This year Spring didn’t start until May and we had the coldest July on records since the 1910’s: ironically this week the local newspaper, two pages after the customary Global Warming scaremongering, reported the skiing season is bound to be “above all expectations” because there’s so much snow already with more to come next week. I bet other areas show different trends. We cannot say the whole world is getting colder because a weather station in Antarctica reported a slight drop in the average temperature in the same way we cannot say the whole world is getting hotter because another weather station reported a slight raise in the average temperature.
