Viva el Oro! Some people in high places actually thinking and talking about it:
I think the gold (and other precious metals) standard cometh will be de facto, once the general populations have given up on paper money. The governments will institute a “gold standard” only after the fact.
Forbes is an ‘insider’ and spoke in May about the US returning to a gold standard within 5 years.
Something cataclysimic will have to happen to thrust the gold standard back into the public spotlight. Max Keiser called Forbes a vulture like the other bankers lurching over the Greek public assets.
Is he joking, right? Or this is a “creative provocation” to stimulate debate?
Nobody wants a gold standard. Not the big exporters, who want a debased currency to drive exports, nor the governments, which wouldn’t be able to debase the currency to reduce the overall value of debt (something the ECB has been doing constantly and stepped up last year), nor the people, who for all their fears of inflation have grown accustomed to dirt cheap loans. Personally I would not only welcome it but proceed to immediately swap a bigger part of my savings in gold than I already have. But I am part of a very small minority and probably a “nutjob” to boot.
we’re probably all on watchlists.
No joke here, but, three of the six times i’ve ordered books from the LvMI the mail has come opened. Sometimes it is slit with a razorblade (the $4.95 USPS cardboard envelope) and the most blatant was one that came in a brown box that had obviously been sealed (with tape for shipping) shut and then ripped open and then retaped. I don’t know if the FBI has them flagged and PATRIOT lets them open packages or if I’m paranoid.
Let me know if i sound paranoid.
