Have you heard of the recent internet censorship bill: S.3804?

Hello, I’ve been reading articles on the Mises website for a while now. this is the first time I’m posting anything here. a recent bill has been introduced and is being pushed by the entertainment industry. I don’t see a lot of buzz on the media (though I admit, I don’t really look ) and the Bill’s recent progress is getting me anxious. if this topic has been brought up before and discussed, then by all means ignore this.

The Bill in question is the “s.3804”. it is called “the Combating Online Infringement and Counterfeits Act” (COICA), introduced by Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-VT) and Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-UT).

I learned about it through this online petition: http://demandprogress.org/blacklist/

a direct link to more information hosted by the same petition: http://demandprogress.org/blacklist/coica

a link to the bill itself: http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c111:s3804:

and here are links to the Bill’s recent progress through the Senate Judiciary Committee.

This Bill has is making me very upset, I just had to tell people about it. again, I apologize if there has already been a topic like this one before.

Sounds like they want to make it a lot less desirable to own domains registered in the United States.

It should be called Chicom-Loving Overlords Annihilating and Crushing America (CLOACA)
