A while back I remember there being a class on poverty (in Canada and in “developing” countries).
The general gist was that we should strive to be like Scandanavia because it is usually on the top of the HDI, though Canada was on top once. The HDI (they say) measures things like life expectancy rates, literacy rates, etc and determines how good a country is.
We also had to figure out how to get a family of 4 living on "Mother’s Allowance ($3000 per month or so) to pay for all the things they need (though Television and food subscribing ENTIRELY to Canada’s Food guide is a NECCESITY). This was presumably to show something about Poverty in Canada, though I am not sure what.
Also, child labour is always bad and should be banned.
Your opinions? (Yes, I know this isn’t much of a topic, but I feel like I need some opinions on this right now and don’t feel like saying my own opinions on it).
