My brother, currently a senior in high school, is working on a paper entitled “Command Versus the Free Market Economy.” I pointed him to the Mises Institute as a resource for economic theory without formal modeling or econometrics. What four or five accessible and relevant readings do you recommend? Any other resources should be helpful as well.

Economics in One Lesson and The Concise Guide to Economics are accessible and helpful for beginners.
Specifically, Chapter 18: Market versus Command Economy will be relevant.
I don’t know of ANY market that is free.
There is no free market economy for him to study.
I like to think of it as freedom.
The Not So Wild West is a good book for him to look at. There seemed to be some aspects of the west that were pretty free of government intervention.
I was able to get it at my public library.
