Anyone know where I can find Interest rates for banks and Savings Rates before 1913? Basically during times of no central banks. Also wondering if there is a book on this subject.
I vaguely, vaguely, vaguely remember America’s savings rate in the 1800s being mentioned in Rothbard’s A history of Money and Banking. Not positive though. Your best bet would be to look at some economic encyclopedia’s that table statistics like that. My guess is it was around 20-25%.
