How do you respond to Keynesians who say that in order for an economy to get out of a recession, or atleast get out of it faster, the Government must intervene? It makes sense in the begining, but then when you look at Japan, it really hasn’t helped. But, if you look at our Great Depression it has worked, and Keynesians are quick to point out the “biggest public works of all, WWII”. So then why are we, the Austrians correct in saying that Keynesian is sheer bullshit?
Reread your Bastiat.
WWII destroyed more value in a few short years than had been created in decades prior. A generation of able men lost their lives. An entire race was almost wiped off the planet. WWII was not a boon to the economy, anywhere.
Nor were the policies of the great depression a success.
Take it to the micro level where the Keynesians understand nothing. Ask them in what is the government going to intervene.
So the mass slaughter of innocents and squandering of wealth is now the “biggest public work of all times”? Aha.
Did I suggest they were?
