Doesn’t sound expensive to me. Makes me think private companies can easily manage roads. Though this doesn’t include snow plowing, sweeping or repairs.

Makes me think that exclusive advertising rights would be enough to avoid tolls for end users on many roads. Certainly they’d be less than they are now in many places.
But building in the first place is much more.
It may be more to build the road to begin with, but using were I currently live as an example, the local housing contractors were planning to build a massive housing complex, and more that building as they were selling, they built every single road into and around the individual homes, supposedly on their dime, but really not until after the housing complex was built out and sold. Since the bust, they have planned pine trees where the houses were, going back to the tree farms what the land used to be, and those take 20-25yrs to mature, and there is asphalt roads and streetlight through them.
