It seems to me that one must be intellectually curious. That is, interested in ideas. Then, that person must be logical and reasonable. Once those two prerequisites have been met, it seems like the truth will take hold if it is presented.
I found that having the gun pointed out to me was the seed that blossomed into my anti-statism.
