How to Research and Write Like a Historian

Is there a good guide to how to do historical research and writing?

When doing such work some of the questions one needs an answer to are:

  • Where does one find the relevant information and artifacts?
  • How does one avoid spending time on redundant information?
  • How does one make sure that one has all relevant information?
  • How does one avoid pitfalls?

Is there any guide that gives answers to these and other relevant questions?

The guide should be relevant for both secondary research (literature studies) and original research.

Thanks!
