Many! And videos of speeches. And thousands of pages of printed material. You could spend a lifetime working through it all, and I don’t think you could finish.
Dignity and virtue are part of human nature too. If these good portions didn’t outweigh the bad already, I wonder why we are here discussing this today. Your problem, which is not inescapable, is a belief that government protects you from corruption when it is by its own nature corrupt and violent. It isn’t much different than the ancient belief that the sun revolved around the Earth. It is what you are taught and perceive that makes you continually resist freedom. You probably have no knowledge of the history of private security in a few societies, so it makes it that much harder for you to understand. Common sense or belief are the same for this discussion as far as I am concerned.

It’s their preception that things are working well thats the problem. Ignorance is bliss and as such the welfare state slowly grows over the coarse of generations. If they enjoy the way government works there is nothing you will be able to say to persuade them otherwise, even if you could argue the immorality of it all.
Where are you from? I have never been swayed to wanting to throw burkas over women by Quran philosophy. Reality is a tough pill to swallow for some.
And it exists without any government funding or subsidy. Just people working voluntarily using their own personal property to make it happen.

Well, I turned my back to big government. Maybe some people are simply more open minded than others.

Instead of enforcing arbitrary laws, they will be defending property and persons. Instead of looking to make money by ticketing and fining people, they will be out stopping violence, and recovering stolen property. Instead of forcing hookers to have sex with them or be arrested, they will be protecting hookers from violent clients, and helping them collect payment. Instead of arresting people for buying drugs, they will provide a safe atmosphere for drug transactions.
lol… I was imagining what if this was said on Oprah or Foxnews. It made me think how far the paradigm shift would have to venture. I laughed not at your analysis, I agree with you, but imagine bringing this up in mainstream public conversation. It put a smile on my face, and made me chuckle.[:)]
