Just something I heard, as part of the sum of the lot of new regulations to come in place.
Google turned up nothing
Every major town has kind of an underground networking community involved in it. They’re usually publicly posted events but they are strictly for networking. Venture capitalists go and new business owners or ideas folks go looking for funding. Even if you don’t have anything to offer find these meetings and show up. Get involved and start learning the business environment. Being an entrepreneur is all about image, being a salesmen, and vision. It’s right up your ally if your an ‘intellectual-poetic’ person.
If folks ask why your there lie to them and tell them your going to school at a local university as a business student. They will jump all over you and spill their guts to you. Or if that doesn’t work out just be honest and tell folks your interested in getting into the industry. Either way that kind of exposure is what you need for getting your foot into the door. Who knows, you might meet your first business partner or something.
The general view on Business is just distorted. People like me used to view Businessmen/Business’ as just money-minded numbskulls who fuck their secretaries, golf on weekends, and take $150 baths. Sadly, this is the general view on Corporate America.
Ouch, thats not the reality I live in.
Where I live, is a very welfare-liberal state. Lots of Liberals here hate Business’ and Corporations, I live 15 mins away from Yale a VERY elitist area. My county is so bad, that they go as far as to keep chain stores/big business out as much as possible. It is very hard to live here because the only stores anywhere are really local stores.
People hate Business’ because they think they are owed things like a job, and that Business’ always profit at their expense.
I’m wondering if I should leave College, come out of the shell and actually go out into the real world. What am I doing here? am I going to study the same shit for four years, go right into a job/graduate school get stuck there, then get married and have kids and be stuck there? That sounds like the rest of my life right there..
But what about getting a job? I mean you need a degree to get a job and all. This economy is getting worse, it will be tougher to get a job by the end of this year, and being in school lets you ride out a recession.
I just watched the movie Post-Grad, I think you all should watch it. Our futures are looking very similar to that of the attractive Alexis Bledel 
For those thinking of alternative ways to educate oneself you should check out MIT’s open source courses. They have most of the material that you would need including professor notes, multimedia presentations, tests, and answers in most cases. You would probably have to buy the textbook, but that would be a hell of a lot cheaper than actually going to MIT.
I recommend that you keep a blog of your progress as well as wrriting scholarly papers for publication. If you are focussing on software share your programs on your blog for future employers to view your progress. This applies to all future career goals regardless of the study.
Additionally, an internship for a company in your chosen field would give you experience. Companies are always looking for interns.
If you got together with your rich buddies… I dunno… let’s say 100 years or so ago during an industrial revolution when common wealth was increasing and socially engaged in your circle to answer this question:

There might even be works published over the past 100 years on secret meetings or researching the minutes of organizational meetings of entities exposing such conspiracies.
Policies that indoctrinate via education, promote credit, and global policing might be of great interest if the above was your agenda.
I might be just some nut way out in left field but if the vast majority of economist jobs in the market demand a study of Keynsian economics what would you predict will happen?

This is exactly what happened at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace after its formation by Andrew Carnegie in 1910. They they tried to figure out how to change life in America to make it compatible with communism and collectivism - how to eliminate national sovereignty and the principles of individualism in the Declaration of Independence and Constitution. They came to the conclusion that war was the best way to do this. They also decided “we must control education in the United States” and enlisted the help of the Rockefeller foundation and Guggenheim foundation to create a new set of history teachers who would promote collectivism. In anser to the original post, I feel your pain because I want to be a doctor but can’t decide if it’s worth it to get licensed and have to comply with government regulations. I think I will go through the education so people will respect and listen to me, so I can help more people, and so I can perhaps help change the system from within.
