I’ve read that Friedrich Hayek was a Fabian Socialist, Walter Block was a commie and Hans-Hermann Hoppe was a Marxist. As almost no-one was libertarian from the very beginning, I would like to know which were you’re previous political ideologies. I first was a social-democrat (liberal), with many ideas of free-markets, but interventionist, because of the infant industries thing. Then I was for a liitle time a minarchist, and now I consider myself an ancap. You?
Constitutional monarchist with laissez faire tendencies somewhat short of minarchism. Hoppe converted me in his DTGTF, and Rand to full anarchism with her VoS. I’ve always pretty much been against authoritarianism (though I did entertain stupid ideas in retrospect, like a desire to outlaw drugs - wtf.)
Nobody is EVER born a libertarian. Humans are biologically born naive and trusting, especially females (who always lobby for government maternal benefits).In addition, the State-run education system always glorifies its officials.
Becoming a libertarian requires massive amounts of lateral and critical thinking, so it is always an acquired taste.
Went to a quaker high school, was a bleeding heart social-democrat. Went to Loyola University New Orleans, Walter Block converted me to a mincap (although he is ancap). I now teeter back and forth on ancap and mincap (I think i present myself closer to mincap with my non libertarian minded friends).
Going through this political transformation makes it very clear that most peoples politcal views are grounded in their education. It is unfortunate that the educators and intellectual elites that shape young minds are all pushing the status quo. Its wierd to look around and see my friends basically maintain the same socialist dispostion they acquired from high school. I must say, it can be tough at times for me, I don’t like to argue my political views with them becuase they are very emotional. I think that sometimes my views are percieved to be radical enough by my friends that they are willing to recalculate their judgments about me as a person. This is the life of a Libertarian in modern society I think, DAMN YOU WALTER BLOCK!!! 
That doesn’t prove that humans are NOT born libertarian. It just proves that “If your parents are statists, and you go to a State school, then you learn to think like a statist.”
The fact that nearly everyone around you is a brainwashed zombie statist makes it VERY HARD to figure out the truth. Given this huge handicap, it requires a lot of thinking and researching to understand the philosophy of really free markets.
I was non-political, then a conservative democrat, then non-political, then a conservative democrat. Then a minarchist. Then an anarcho-capitalist.
I’m not sure what I am now. Definitely some form of anarchist, but I am tired of labels.
In the beginning, I only knew the state, so I assumed it was valid. Then I realized it was parasitic, but still considered it necessary. Now I have no doubt in my mind that it is illegitimate.
Influences are Woods, Rand, Rothbard, Chodorov, Spooner, Mencken, Mises, Hoppe, Block, Paul, Rockwell, J. Tucker, M. Stevens, Kinsella and DiLorenzo. Probably missing some.

I would say I considered myself a conservative democrat. Pretty much, I thought businesses needed to be regulated, that drugs and prostitution needed to be legalized, and that war in general was bad. I have, however, always had problems with authority, given that they always seem to have such stupid rules. I liked speeding a lot when I got my driver’s license. I did not get caught that much though. Of course I have never gotten into an accident either. Anyways, I found out about libertarianism, and now understand none of the governments in the world currently have legitimate authority.

I’ve always been a “small government” guy since I got into Orwell when I was about 13. That pretty much lead me to support low income taxes, private gun ownership, legalization of drugs, neutrality in foreign policy. Although, I still supported immigration and opposed private gun ownership for a while. I didn’t really have any clearly defined political views throughout this period until I was about 16 because I didn’t care. Sooner or later I realized that bleeding heart liberals pissed me off more than Christians and conservatives so I aligned myself with the Republican party. Then I started really getting into Hitchens’ stuff on atheism and looked into his political views at which point I dropped my opposition to war, supported closed borders and private gun ownership. I don’t remember where but I saw something on Ron Paul after a few months of becoming a pretty typical neocon. Laughed at him at first and then realised that actually his policies made more sense than Hitchens’ because I only accepted the pro-war baggage because I considered it to be part of “conservatism”. The rest is pretty well known, became a Rothbardian pretty quickly. Got big into Rothbard and Hoppe and would probably still identify as a libertarian.
My parents were (are?) religious social anarchists. So I wasn’t.
First I was a constitutionalist (even envying the U.S. constitution as an ideal)
Then an Objectivist.
Now a voluntaryist.
