that’s a slightly loaded question, but in America we are still relatively civilized and the transition imo would be pretty painless. I was reading about Kuwait during a brief period in the Gulf War when they had anarchy and it was to the suprise of the media, productive and peacefull.
If we abolished the govt. in one day, there would be looting for sure in the cities, and I’m sure most shops would close up. As it would take time for a complex polycentric legal structure to evolve, as well as a law enforcement service, there would be incentives to self-defence. In the USA, with a widespread proliferation of guns, this would be easier than here in the UK.
Economically we would boom almost immediately. I for instance would certainly set up a gun-import or protection business. Or potentially become a travelling judge. Basically the opportunities for entrepreneurs would be endless, we really would have a capitalist jungle. I can’t make any detailed predictions though, because that all depends on consumer preference. I barely know my own consumer preference, let alone those of billions of others.
The question is wrongly put. It’s not like the entire, say, U.S. government is going to be abolished. That would require convincing the majority of the U.S. population that anarchy is desirable - a difficult task, to say the least.
Microsecession is much more realistic. You only need to convert the people living in the city, village, rather than the entire nation. Microsecession is death by a thousand cuts.
You need to specify what strategy you’re using as a premise. The economic effects of microsecession are much different than those of large-scale abolition.
The thing is, wouldn’t one still have to pay most taxes, because one’d be consuming the state’s services.
How would microsecession change one’s life at all (except for relaxation of drug laws etc in one’s property)
