If you were in charge of things...

would you resign?

Define “things.” If you mean President, I would redecorate the Oval Office with pink unicorn wallpaper (using my own money, of course), then resign.

Top central banker of your country

Head of any department or ministry, whether as frivolous as Ministry of Culture or as big as Finance Ministry/Department

President/Prime Minister

Top UN position

Top World Bank or IMF position

Head of any private corporation that under government laws and regulation is a de facto arm of government

Large influential nonprofit organization similar to above

I don’t think I’d resign, at least not immediately, because my successor probably wouldn’t be as sympathetic to human freedom as I am (based on the history of people that have been “in charge”.) I think I’d at least have to attempt to sabotage my own organization before resigning.

And miss the opportunity to fill up my Swiss bank account?!

If I were president, no, I would not resign. I would tell everyone to stop obeying me and the rest of the government. I would tell them I am going to raise taxes on them until they decide they will stop paying. I would tell them every day. I would call them sheep, and make fun of them by going “baaaaah”. I would call them my slaves and point out there is no obligation to obey me or pay taxes, but that they would still do it anyways. It would be lots of fun.

Then you’d be in a Sonny Corleone situation, where you’d just have one more and one more thing to do before leaving.

If somebody started a coup against you, would you feel he is doing the right thing?

this, haha is a great PLAN

I would never seek or even accept a political position to begin with. But for the sake of the hypothetical, if I were in the position of being in a political office, I would try to execute it in the way that is most consistent with my own conscience. Of course, for any political office above the rank of dog-catcher, this would probably entail resigning.

I would open the FED to the public (at least) before I resigned, I know that.

I would split as many states as possible then dissolve the union. Competitive government >> policy reform

No. I would go on vacation for 4 years.

Hahahahahaha. If a president actually were to do that, I would want to pay taxes because of how awesome he is.

Article 4, Section 3, Clause 1: “New States may be admitted by the Congress into this Union; but no new States shall be formed or erected within the Jurisdiction of any other State; nor any State be formed by the Junction of two or more States, or parts of States, without the Consent of the Legislatures of the States concerned as well as of the Congress.”

I feel like splitting up the states might take a very, very long time with all of that necessary cooperation.

Oh noes! I may have to change my strategy.

I think I might be inclined to tell the truth. Today, we launched an attack on xxxx, and there were 45 women and children killed. Also, today I participated in the confiscation of money from hard working Americans and gave it to special interests and welfare bums. Also, I just found out we’re violating several treaties, and think everyone should know we really didnt land on the moon.

That reminds me, LS.

When Cass Sunstein wrote his famous paper on conspiracy theories and how they can be dangerous, there was one section where he was making concessions and denials on what conspiracy theories turned out to be true and what didn’t out to be true. Now Sunstein is the information czar of the US, so he should know what’s what.

So I really liked it, when he slipped in a “Aliens did, in fact, land in Rosswell” into this part of the paper. Now there’s a little something to think about!

Pft. No! You would all be roller-skating backward to and from work, solely for my amusement. Well, those of you in government jobs, anyway. It’s my “parasite deterrent” plan. Also, all government jobs would be minimum wage. The government-issued currency would be snakes, and all religion would be free to practice in any way one chooses, as long as whenever anyone is done praying to their god, gods, or goddesses, they whisper under their breath, “And that Valject guy is a good fellow, too.”

And I WILL be listening. I’m fatally conceited that way.

I would redirect all government resources towards an immensely expensive program to find intelligent alien life and invite them to be our overlords.

No, wait…

This just in: Congress has passed a bill to raise the federal minimum wage to a billion dollars an hour!

I’d turn every municipality into a private mutual company and grant them extraterritoriality. Nothing n the day-to-day life of citizens would change, yet the slow movement to full anarchy would begin. If that plan would be rejected I’d resign.
