In my opinion, there should be a separate forum wherein statists, keynesians and mainstream folks can come and debate us...

It is because of debate that I became an Austrian (amateur) economist and an an-cap. In fact, one of the people I occasionally debated was Knight of BAAWA (though usually, it was less a debate, and more him being didactic and me sitting there like a lump on a log, spouting Nader-ite nonsense). This was back around the year 2000-2001. I was a Nader freak, and BAAWA and I used to chat in the same room on yahoo. One of the reasons he was able to get under my skin was that he (an an-cap) and me (then a liberal) agreed on so many things (the cause(s) of 9-11, the drug war, gay marriage, etc).

So, I submit that there should be a debate section here, for people who don’t agree with us. In other words, a place where people who disagree with us, or don’t understand us, can come, post their views, ask questions, and not worry about being called “trolls”. I, as much as anyone, don’t like trolls, but I do like a good debate. And, the bonus is, we will get them thinking.

Good idea?

Sorry, this post is rambling, but my wife is rushing me.

Heh!

We already have a newbie forum.

I agree! The scope of the forum could be widened. It would be healthy to see more of the counter-AE arguments (getting bashed!)

For sure, AE must seem provocative enough to mainstream inbreads, and their confidence high (since they are mainstream), so many of will probably take the bait. Qualified economists should be invited to debate here, I think. Maybe “Newbie” doesn’t sound so inviting. It sounds like a forum for forum technicalities.

Why not just debate on generic political fora? I do. This forum is for specialised discussion of Austrian theory, political and economic, not so much debating with statists.

Exactly, there’s plenty of other places to debate statists, anyway we already have what you’re looking for.
