Here is a firm that produces nothing, services, nothing, and in general is a leech upon the productivity of society. It’s very own website offers no evidence of an offered service or product. It’s entire existence is backed by state protectionism entirely.
Companies like these bully other companies into buying into their legitimacy via leasing a concept. The more firms that buy into it, the more legal legitimization they receive. Some folks are fighting back however apparently. As explained in the Ars techinca article.
Whats ironic is their website doesn’t even pretend to sell themselves as a useful company to society. There is nothing on this website that is intended to appeal to a consumer. By contrast on an open market the most industrious firms websites typically have something that will appeal to a general consumer audience. Patent Sharks on the other hand don’t need to do this, and have no reason to appear beneficial to anyone. They operate 100% via state protectionism, legal blackmale. They extract from the productive sector of society, and give nothing in return. They stunt the growth of further invention, and general capital accumulation.
It’s sad.
