After reading an article in a local newspaper, I was sickened to some comments made on the stimulus package plan. One contributer proclaimed that she was going to buy a new television with her $600 dollar check because it was the American thing to do. The individual believed that everyone should do their part by spending their checks to help stimulate the economy. I thought to myself what has happened to our country. We have $4.00/gallon gas, high food prices, and a contracting economy. We need to end this consumption based mentality and begin saving. Would it be unamerican to save your stimulus package check?
Everyone should use it to buy capital goods which they then would use to develop the counter-economy. That’s true patriotism. ^__________^
Not as patriotic as buying a new gun with your stimulus package. Then again, maybe the two things aren’t mutually exclusive.
I bought 150 lbs of beans and a new shotgun with mine. I’ve still got $200 left over which will go towards rice and bullets.
