Is the Dollar Toast?

I recently started studying Austrian economics. I have read a few books, and am currently working on Man, Economy and State. So I’m not really familiar with the dynamics of the dollar bubble. If anyone could direct me to an article to read or give a quick summary, I would greatly appreciate it. Also, is it safe to assume that the dollar is toast? I am wondering as there are a few things I was planning on purchasing in the near future, but if the dollar is going to hit the fan, I may as well get them now while I can and put the rest of my spare cash in gold.

The dollar is toasting at a rate of about 10-20% a year, by my estimation. You still have some time.

This is what I’ve been doing recently with getting a few big purchases out of the way with before it’s harder to get them. I’m still completley clueless as to how I’m supposed to buy & gold and actually use it, however. I’ll probably end up just stocking up on barterable items instead.
