Last time I checked- the Israeli state kills Palestinians on a daily basis- just no one cares because its not newsworthy. Saying they just want to be left alone is purposeful misinformation. To generalize, this point of view is pretty prevalent in the West.
The idea is that Israel was minding its own business one day when suddenly Palestinians decided they hate the Jewish state and started to fire rockets into Sderot. Granted, the situation is more complicated than one good side vs. one evil side- but come on. The death tallies are more than enough to tell you what’s really going on.
The fact that the people in Israel might be jewish is a complete distraction from what’s really going on. It doesn’t matter what their religious views are- its politics as usual. Not all jewish people agree with the israeli state actions- that much should be obvious to anyone.
You wrote this sentence as if it was a myth that Israel commits real serious human rights abuses. They do. I can just turn around and say why is it that the level of criticism leveled against China and Saudi Arabia is not used against nations like Israel? Hell, what about the hypocrisy of refusing to point out the human rights abuses in the United States? The country with one of the largest prison complexes in the world. Every prison here is a rape-house. The judges should just say “I sentence you to 10 years of getting raped” whenever they send someone to prison. How about we just call out aggression when we see it- the saudi government is bad, the chinese government is bad, nearly every government commits serious human rights abuses.
I see a difference. While the is invading , is no longer (leave the past aside, for now) invading anyone. Now, I do not know the details but if they really confine themselves to bombing weapons depots in and killing only Palestinians who fire rockets, than the only problem I’d see here is that such interventions are financed through taxation.
Sure the wall is coercive, and it should not be there. But other than that (and tax financing) I see no difference in the way is handling its problems form what any PDA under anarchy would do. Again, for the sake of the argument I’m 1) assuming away past actions of , 2) assuming they confine themselves (as they claim) to harming terrorists.
nirgrahamUK, how can it be anti-Semitic to suggest that a group of people are not Semitic?
Shouldn’t it be anti-Semitism if you said that a particular group of people are Semites and thus bad for it?
The Khazar theory is dubious, of course, and it only relates to Russian Jews, if at all.
As it is, do you disagree that rates of intermarriage between Jews and non-Jews were quite high in metropolitan European cities, even in Germany, and that most of them now possess a largely European heritage? That alone would negate the idea of Jews as a race or a clear cut ethnicity - a person is now only Jewish if he identifies as one. There are only four million Jews in the US, sources say, but the number of people with Jewish ancestry has only increased. It’s a matter of whether a partly Jewish person decides whether being a Jew or a Christian reflects his better half.
Antisemitism (also spelled anti-semitism or anti-Semitism) is prejudice against or hostility towardsJews, often rooted in hatred of their ethnic background, culture, and/or religion. In its extreme form, it “attributes to the Jews an exceptional position among all other civilizations, defames them as an inferior group and denies their being part of the nation[s]” in which they reside.[1] A person who holds such views is called an “antisemite”.
While the term’s etymology might suggest that anti-semitism is directed against all Semitic peoples, the term was coined in the late 19th century in Germany as a more scientific-sounding term for Judenhass(“Jew-hatred”),[2] and that has been its normal use since then.[3]
Well, you know I never really liked those Carthaginians, always coming in the neighbourhood, and ruining everything. Worse are those Assyrian guys, always up to no good and not worth being a part of any advanced nation. And don’t get me started on those Akkadian rat bastards.

It may sound more scientific, but is an absolutely retarded “pop” word, that people take way too seriously, probably because it sounds scientific.
Hitler as a pop cultural phenom has given us a strange legacy; such as right wing “D&D political philosophy” and the obfuscation of valuable words that are no longer able to be used correctly such as Semite and Aryan.
Nope, than I would have morphed her phrase into “D&D theology”, I am only speaking of political and sociological consequences. I suppose one of these consequences would be things like Hitler as being some magical wizard that idiots/ the History channel just seem to be drawn to.
People and groups such as the History Channel are more worried about what would get someone’s interest and their ratings. If they did a story on Hitler, his early life, his art, and political affiliations, no one would care. If they did instead a story on Hitler and Satanic occultism and Himmler’s fascination with rune magic, it’ll spark more interest. Even though there is no such evidence besides a department for the investigation of European culture/ancestry, and Himmler’s interest in Karl Wiligut. History Channel interviewed Stephen Flowers about Nazi occultism, and to my knowledge did not use any of the footage, because Flowers’ answers weren’t the ones they were looking for - Hitler as an occultist. In which, Flowers’ co-wrote The Secret King: The Myth and Reality of Nazi Occultism.

I didn’t realise that the Disney Channel had done a special on the conflict…
It never occurred to the supporters of [logical polylogism] that where there are selfish interests pro there must necessarily be selfish interests contra too.
— Ludwig von Mises, Human Action, p. 82
All of this talk about Jews reminds of Mises’s criticism of the Marxian and racist doctrine of polylogism. It’s the same idea that one group of people, which are necessarily an “ideal type” (or a historical construct, not praxeologic), are homogenous in their values and the factors which influence their reasoning. It is no less poorly applied here than it was when Marx applied it to the “bourgeois”.
There is truth in the statement that different Jews will have different motives behind different actions, but the same is true for the human race as a whole. It’s obvious that some of the people posting in this thread have taken this principle to a far, detached corner of reasoning, where their beliefs no longer reflect on reality.
Exactly my point. Supporters of Israeli state actions make things sound so simplistic.
Exactly my point. If you really think supporters of the Isreali state generally think that, I conclude that you’ve been getting your education on the Disney Channel. As a general point, when somebody says that the people their disagreeing with “make things so simplistic” it’s usually a good sign that you’ve not understand the arguments behind a given cause/ theory/ whatever.
Tel-Aviv is meant to be a beautiful city, that pretty much justifies Isreal in my opinion.
Justifying Israel is a futile exercise. The fact is that it exists, so deal with it. All discussion of Israel and Palestine should acknowledge Israel’s existence (justification is irrelevant, because no Jewish Israeli is ever going to care about whether or not you think Israel is justified). That’s why my anti-Zionist beliefs are largely formed to take into consideration the self-interest of most Israelis, rather than pointlessly argue on whether or not Israel should exist and whether or not Jews exist only for the purpose of taking over the media.
It was in reference to the OP’s saying “Israel is commiting genocide against the palestineans”. Last time I checked, it was the their own governments that are causing misery and Israel just wants to be left alone.
Oh no, I am one of the most politically correct people I know, and I had not intended to be bigoted.
I just made a tongue-in-cheek statement about the word “anti-Semite”, but sorry if it came out wrong. You know, Carthaginians, Akkadians,.etc = Semites.
Please accept my apology; I don’t intend to lose good online company with a poster I like.
I am very critical of Israel but I have absolutely nothing against Jews. My criticism is born from going to the ground and see the situation for myself. For me it was a life changing experience which helped me turn away from Statist beliefs.
Is Israel an apartheid nation? Just know this: now only Arabs, be them Christian or Muslim, are discriminated against. Jews themselves are: if you are not a descendant of the original Zionist settlers you are a second class citizen. This means you will only get second choice housing and second choice jobs. When you are drafted into the Army (Tsa’hal) you will be sent to do the dirtiest jobs: raizing houses with a bulldozer, manning road blocks, shooting people with rubber bullets and tear gas etc. Ever wondered why immigration from Israel to the US has such proportions? It’s because they have no future at home other than working menial, low paid jobs and getting recalled into the Army on a yearly basis.
Zionists have been very able playing the “race card” to kill dissent abroad, especially among their generous financial patrons, the US and Europe. They have managed to instill in the Western public opinion that criticizing Israel for shelling schools in Gaza and boarding ships belonging to a trusty ally is somewhat the same as wearing a brown shirt, growing a moustache and flying a swastika. This could be seen as part of Moshe Dayan’s philosophy which dictated that “Israel should be seen as a mad, rabid dog: too dangerous to touch”. While Dayan was most likely referring to military affairs the end result is the same: touch Israel and you will be bitten. I often find this curious: Iran is home to a majority of Shia Muslim in the world and their protector in the same way as Israel is to Jews. Yet when some Israel sock puppet (usually an official in the US or French government) launches one of the usual tirades against Teheran nobody laments he’s being an “anti-Shiite” or that he wants to march Iranian women and children into death camps. Imagine what would happen if a politician called for bombing Israel’s nuclear sites in the same way as he/she’s calling to “end the Iranian nuclear threat”! Where’s the difference?
Israel has truly become a rabid dog: not only is it able to get away with pretty much anything but is also able to extort money from scared people in return for a promises of good behavior. Problem is rabies is always fatal: if it isn’t treated quickly it will devour the host in the most horrible way. By keep on kowtowing to Israel and bowing down to their threats of “You don’t want to be branded as an Anti-Semite, do you?” the US and Europe have played the part of the veterinarian that not only refused to inoculate the dog against rabies, but also refused to apply treatment when the patient could still be saved.
