What is the Libertarian position on this subject? And of course, what is your opinion?
That it is a sham. When you put value judgments on people’s genes you invariably will discriminate in some way against somone when you apply the principles in about any way. It was first conceived by racists, first applied by racists, and is currently being employed by the global warming alarmists (the neo-Malthusian overpopulationists), but not in an overt way. Read these:
Intended Consequences: Birth Control, Abortion, and the Federal Government in Modern America - this one is one book# A Century of Eugenics in America: From the Indiana Experiment to the Human Genome Era - this one is several essays with varying topics (very good though)
Value judgments are subjective. Judging a given genome sequence as “good” or “bad” is functionally equivalent to racism.
Why do these topics only come up right before an election, like clockwork? Are there any well-known posters on these boards with an abiding interest in anti-semitism, eugenics and the like?
