Japan Injects 2 Trillion Yen into Money Markets

could be a really really ugly day tomorrow, given the recent shocks in the stock market and now this.

It’ll be interesting tomorrow and next week, for sure.

lol your title is misleading. I saw $2 trillion and my eyes bulged out of my head.

Your headline says $2 Trillion, but it’s actually $21 billion. Edit?

yeah, sorry about that, just noticed xP

Fixed.

lol now it says 21 billion yen. That’s like the equivalent of a Double Down at KFC here.

hardly xP that’s almost 228 million bucks.

Why was the OP title changed from my correction? 2 Trillion is not the correct sum.

lol you changed it from 2 trillion dollars to 21.8 billion yen. He then changed it to the correct 2 trillion yen.

lols, currency confusion. Changing it back now. Carry on thread, carry on.

A year ago Japan “gave” every resident with a post office bank account $120. Even to foreigners who didn’t pay taxes, such as myself. I don’t think it exhibited much of an effect on the economy. Most likely the new injection won’t have a big effect on the economy either; Japan will stay as a zombie state.

The real interesting thing is that the Chinese have actually begun buying some Japanese firms. This new, Eastern form of foreign pressure (gaiatsu) will be interesting to follow.

Now that’s what I call a money shot.

The Rev

I think a big currency confusion is taking place

Strangely, Americans I know who live in Japan or have visited have not noticed any price rise or inflation -is this true?

It is not outside the realm of theory that prices wouldn’t rise yet I still don’t see how this could carry-on for so long. Besides, some Japanese people have noticed that food is (and I don’t know what to make of this) more expensive in Japan than it is in the US.

I guess, Japan dumps its money on everyone through some kind of import trade? Or the people just keep their yen locked up in their banks?
