John Carmack speaks out about the State.
Awesome.
Maybe not a total market anarchist, but certainly very far.
" There isn’t a single thing that I would petition the federal government to add to its task list, and I would ask that it stop doing the majority of the things that it is currently doing. My vote is going to the candidates that at least vector in that direction."
Emphasis is mine. He sounds like minarchist.
Yes, but still, market minarchist
hehe
So I am surprised that at least four Mises posters recognize the name of a famous game developer.
I mean, he is famous, but among gamers, so it keeps surprising me the number of gaming enthusiasts here.
When Carmack was only 14 he used a special glass-melting paste, the receipe for which he had gotten from a BBS (a primitive forum), to try to homestead public property (steal his school’s Apple II).
And what are we using the forums for?!
This is the Doom programmer John Carmack?
I’ve always admired Carmack; he’s one of my inspirations for getting into programming. I particularly respect his libertarian bent as shown through his opposition to patents and other government regulation and general support of markets.
It’s cool to see this brought up at mises.org. Doom is one of my all-time favorite games.
I’m actually more surprised by the number of obvious /b/tards on the forums.
I take your Doom and open my hand with QuakeWorld, the Fastest and Best online shooter
I’ve always thought he was a great guy. I bought the book Masters of Doom by David Kushner when I was in the 10th grade.
I can’t wait for rage.
