John Stossel moving to Fox Business, getting his own show

Wow, I don’t get Fox business channel [8o|]!

NOT a good thing, ABC is respected and seen as fairly objective (dunno why) while Fox is seen as the nest of the neocons, this will make people think that libertarians are conservatives… >.<

ZOMG STOSSEL WRKS ON FOX THERFOR LIBURTARIANS R TEH SPWN OF SATAN11!11

That’s how the “free-thinking”, “open-minded”, “compassionate”, “liberal” will see it.

Never underestimate the influence “guilt by association” has over today’s soft-headed world.

Seriously. I tried explaining WW2 to a co-worker and I got labeled as a holocaust denier. I was trying to explain that if Britain weren’t so belligerent, the holocaust may not have happened. I didn’t even get to start before I was grouped with Ahmedenijad and the like. I’m sure I’ll be explaining to the boss that I am not a holocaust denier soon. Ridiculous.

It is better to spend the time and energy to introduce liberterian ideas to conservatives, many of which would welcome true freedom if only someone would introduce it to them. I see many of these Tea party activists and they are pathetic.

Incredible. This is something I would only expect to encounter at Hot Air or Little Green Footballs. I’d take what your co-worker said as a red herring in the grand scheme of things.

Happens all the time. I’ve been called a racist, anti-semite, terrorist sympathizer, etc. for having mainstream libertarian opinions on war and government. Peace and freedom.

Stossel will do a better job on Fox Business. That network is emergent, and his show will be libertarian, not libertarianism wrapped in the statism of 20/20.

It makes one wonder why he is moving…

Either he thinks he will be able to make a bigger impact or more money.

I wouldn’t doubt it, but I’ve found fellow Canadians generally to be oblivious, disinterested, or defined by platitude-based ‘thinking’ in matters of economics, philosophy, or politics.

Which reminds me, the guys deserves major credit for having dedicated some time to Emergence on 20/20.

It’s mostly Americans. They don’t like anyone questioning their divine right to carpet bomb or torture.

I can’t discuss politics or philosophy with Canadians. Although it is becoming easier to talk health care.

In what way? Does anyone respond to you with indignation and boilerplate remarks?

I like the idea of him having his own show. Fox will probably censor him less than ABC does. The problem is, however, twofold:

  1. Less people get and less people watch FBN.
  2. The guilt by association problem, as others have pointed out.

Didn’t you know, health care is free? [;)]

I can handle it though. I have two horror stores, mine and that of a very close family member.

The people who defend the Canadian health care scheme are typically those who don’t use it, and those who are dependent on it.

Me too, it’s great to have what seems like near-perfect health under such a garbage system. As for horror stories, let’s just say you have to be good actor if you want assured treatment. It really makes alot of sense when one has to come back to the hospital, and wait long periods at different waiting stages (after your condition has exacerbated of course). Well, atleast I wasn’t born under the dreaded Polish healthcare system.

I also have doctors in the family, and they see alot of hypohondriacs.
