So I am reading Marxism Unmasked by Mises and he is discussing how saving leads to capital accumulation. He then comes to Keynes and he says this:
‘Lord Keynes was very peculiar about this idea. [ That spending leads to capital accumulation ] An American friend published an article dealing with his personal friendship with Lord Keynes. He tells a story about visiting Keynes in a Washington hotel. In washing his hands, the friend was very careful not to soil more than a single towel. Keynes then crumpled all of the towels and said in that way he was making more jobs for the American chambermaids.’
It make me snort. The ‘destruction brings prosperity’ mentality. Just wanted to share the statement.
