If the FED is a “private” organization why has anyone brought a some sort of lawsuit against them for causing the worth of there assets to dissolve through wether it is actual dollar holdings, real estate or some other bubble that the Austrian belive has been brought on by the FED’s policies.
Governments set themselves above the law. In my state a guy fought for a couple years to sue the state over them increasing their own pay more than some legal threshold or something. The judge just ruled that “he had no standing”, even though a law was clearly being broken and he was one victim of governmental theft.
Are you positive no one’s ever brought suit against the Fed?
I am positive there are many from a quick google search. None seemed to be making a case about debasing the currency though. This one was interesting. Hatred of Muslims has really taken hold with some people.
the Fed is not a private entity. It does not operate on behalf of itself but on behalf of the government, so If you want to file a lawsuit, you would have to file it against the US government. While you’re at it, you might as well file a suit against all of its other agencies.
I thought the Fed was owned by its member banks but was given sanction by congress to print money or something like that?
is there nothing preventing different users from using the same user name?
It isn1’t private. Plus sovereign immunity.
I got confused, too. Maybe all of us can be “Joe”! ![]()
Attached are excerpts from a court case proving the Federal Reserve system’s status. As you will see, the court ruled that the Federal Reserve Banks are “independent, privately owned and locally controlled corporations”, and there is not sufficient “federal government control over ‘detailed physical performance’ and ‘day to day operation’” of the Federal Reserve Bank for it to be considered a federal agency

Still confused?
Yeah, that’s what I thought too, but that doesn’t mean the Fed isn’t the de facto financing arm of the government. It just means that technically it’s private. Or more like quasi-private.
“I am Joe”
“No I am Joe!”
No, I am Joe!!!"
Little off topic but it looks like Mayor Bloomberg’s case against the FED is making some progress: http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601087&sid=a2rzjENZQV5k
