Low Content FAIL Quote Thread

Have you ever read or heard something so ridiculous that it made you face palm so hard you (hopefully metaphorically) smashed your nose into your brain and sustained irreversible brain damage?

This thread is to immortalize those comments, verbal or written, composed of enough earth-collapsing ignorance to single handedly rip a black hole in reality large enough to devour our universe through its vacuous, unadulterated stupidity.

“Intrinsic value, as money.”

Stand back bitches, Neo’s got this.

This was the greatest quote I’ve ever heard. I was speechless. It was the only think anyone’s ever said to me that ended the discussion in its tracks.

“Freer markets mean higher taxes”

-BOSS

“Taxes are what we pay for a civilized society.” - What the IRS building says

“In the society that the Zeitgeist Movement will create, everyone will have their own Central Bank, so you can just print your wealth and nobody will be poor.” - Zeitgeist Guy

Okay, so that last one was me paraphrasing, but it’s true, that’s what they believe. Even I know more about economics than those lummoxes.

“Things would have been much worse if the government hadn’t intervened.”

“we are from the government and we’re here to help”

That is IMPLIED value. Meaning that people will imply a higher or lower value based on emotions. That doesn’t change what the ACTUAL value of the item is.

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal…”

Euthydemus:

"If you will answer my questions, said Dionysodorus, I will soon extract the same admissions from you, Ctesippus. You say that you have a dog.

Yes, a villain of a one, said Ctesippus.
And he has puppies?
Yes, and they are very like himself.
And the dog is the father of them?
Yes, he said, I certainly saw him and the mother of the puppies come together.

And is he not yours?
To be sure he is.
Then he is a father, and he is yours; ergo, he is your father, and the puppies are your brothers."

“Capitalism kills.”

The sophistry, it burns…

… Please tell me that there was some pun in the original Greek text, because that seems so unintelligent as to be the sort of wordplay used by five year olds that just isn’t that clever…

Rabid Obama supporter girl: “So you’re a libertarian? That’s just such a cop out from real issues.”

Highschool girl after I was arguing against conscription: “You’re such a communist”

Random hippie: “I don’t eat beef because cows could’ve evolved to the point where they have a conscience if humans hadn’t been eating them this whole time”

Random hippie ahead by a mile.

Anyone wanna guess what she means?

“2008 Housing Crisis was caused by the Free Market” or, anytime anything goes wrong “Free Market Fixed it Again!”

In surveys people consider the Star Trek Federation to be a model of perfect human society. Oddly enough. It’s also an example of pure communism.

“Libertarians? Oh yeah, they’re conservatives alright. They are just conservatives who smoke pot.”

I thought that most scarcity was non-existent in the Star Trek universe. Property (capital) is only needed when there’s conflict over it.

Also from Star Trek - the needs of the many outweight the needs of the one.

In the next movie they also said the reverse, though.

They’re called fascists, just like Michael Savage. No, fuck you. Way to go conflating a voluntarily chosen ideological position with a forced condition of economic servitude. Please teach us how to be bourgeois insurrectionists! I steal internet from a hacked DSL gateway. I haven’t said a single thing I am ashamed of.

“if you truly believe in depriving two people of their legal equality then you are a terrible human being and whatever heaven you believe in isn’t worth that”

“I’m the type of person who thinks everything can be fixed by zoning” I’d like to hear the fantastical justification for that one.
