We took the concept of monopoly way to far in this country. People fear large efficient business’s but don’t know why they fear them.
Ironically most large fiber providers are cable company’s that were given geographical monopoly sponsorship from the state. Seem’s fitting they should get cut apart now.
Ignorance of economics. Monopolies are just boogeymen now, it has nothing to do with the economic theories that attempt to describe how they work or how they affect consumers. I suggest to anyone, to read H L Mencken’s “Notes on Democracy”. It goes into a very interesting theory about how most people are held hostage by fears they never overcame when they were young, and this leads them to being lead around by demogouges who find things for them to fear so they can profit from it.
It looks like the newest version of breaking up ATT. It will be full of stupidity. The best way to resolve this issue is to simply break up the FCC and let the telecom and other providers battle it out for supremacy. The results will be predictable: Lower prices and more innovation. But the FCC bureaucrats will lose their precious power.
