I’m still pretty new to blogging in general, but I would be interested in a general rundown of Tyler Cowen’s/ Cafe Hayek’s differences with this site or of any major differences among popular Austrian blogs contra this site, since right now I am a bit confused. Is there any real “infighting” at all,and on what basis? I’m getting the impression that Marginal Revolution has been pretty critical of LVMI, and the comments section of that blog seems full of general trolling, lol.
Are they generally in the crowd that has reacted negatively to say, Ron Paul’s candidacy? I’ve noticed the Cato/Koch/Reason’s stance of distancing itself, and it is indeed troubling and unfortunate, if not very effective at all.
My really short guess is that LvMI has way more “out and proud” anarcho-capitalist writers and readers than the other blogs. the LvMI and LewRockwell.com give far more play to Rothbard who was in so many ways a lot more radical than Mises and Hayek.
So my totally non-researched gut instinct analysis:
Cafe Hayek = more or less just minarchists
LvMI = Ancap majority, minarchist minority.
On many of these other sites, I am getting the vibe that “LRC and Mises.org are Outside The Mainstream and Cannot Be Taken Seriously”, and there follows a slippery slope that soon lumps them in with “truthers and old white guys who are evil racists” and other assorted boogeymen. And this is disquieting.
Cowen and Caplan seem to reject most of Austrian economics but then act as if they are the final opinion on them. I could be very wrong on this though, but this is the general vibe I am getting.
Is this just “Big Tent” madness? Can there be virtues in both Marginal Revolution and mises.org? I am inclined to believe the latter.
