a little counter-view of Mark Levin. I don’t know that much about him, but I remember reading and listening to this some time ago linked from LewRockwell’s site I believe at that time.
Perhaps some quotes and key points he makes?
I’ve listened to his program several times on XM while making some long drives. He just seems to be a more articulate Sean Hannity. He calls anyone who is not a conservative a “statist,” and, boy, does he love that word. Of course he doesn’t realize the obvious. His Liberty & Tyranny mentions Hayek once, but only to help him build his case on how democracy is the only system which maximizes individual liberty. Typical neocon rhetoric.
Great speech. I’m a huge fan of Mark Levin. I bought his book, Liberty and Tyranny and also his book Men In Black. Both are fantastic, in my opinion. Levin seems like a great man and I’m always pleased at how simply he can say what I think needs to be said. I enjoyed this speech.
Anyone who makes a speech in honor of Churchill is pure evil. Might as well make a speech in honor of FDR.
Mark Levin is, in my mind, just another shock jock with no philosophical foundation to this political theory. He has a depressingly naive faith in the Constitution and when ask why should we follow such a document the response can be something along the lines of some droll mentioning about the founding fathers. Levin could be something more. One might think he dislikes the government but that would be a false assumption. He dislikes not having conservatives in government, not the institution itself. How happy he would be if the world were directed under his ‘freedom’ and not the individual’s. Levin follows suit with many conservative talk show hosts [ and I think I am becoming more and more inclined to think that neoconservatives are part and parcel to what is called ‘conservatism’ today ] in establishing the utopian world of small-government yet grandiose nationalism and foreign policy. It is like a strange breed of Rousseaun philosophy. His inability to properly handle counter arguments presented towards him makes Levin’s whole mantra little more then ineffective hand-wringing.
Well, at least he picks the right side.

I see anarchism as leftist. The right is reserved for the old regime.
Well its not really limited government when you expect that very same government to be the policemen of the world. Such hegemony only breeds bigger government. Instead of food stamps and public utilities, you get bullets and bombs. Frankly I’d rather have welfare then the military industrial complex. There is much more to fear with a government that holds the keys to the most destructive weapons on the planet, then some pseudo do-gooders who are too inane to see their own contradictions.
Well, that is your personal preference.
The part about food over bullets yes. However, there is no denying that global police enforcement requires big government. You cannot sustain large scale military operations on say 15% taxation for all. Hell we cannot sustain them on the current tax level and if the tax level of this ‘limited’ government were to be at or above what it is now then I certainly wouldn’t consider it limited.
I think it would be easier to afford if they eliminated entitlements. But that’s an imaginary scenario.

Wake up in the morning and concoct corny pseudonyms for all those that oppose all things Mark Levin.

Only engage screened callers a.k.a intellectual stragglers.

If said straggler begins to dissent, throw a temper tantrum and man the ad hom torpedoes.

Cut the caller off, and proceed to rant about how the homosexual mafia is destroying the family and usurping America.

Levin may not be a Libertarian, but neither are the other 98% of this country. I have not read his book and I have only been listening to his radio program for a week or so now. I do enjoy listening to him. At least I can be in the same room as conservatives or constitutionalists. I can barely deal with brainwashed MaoBama liberals.
If I were to close my eyes / ears and only read Mises forums or Lew Rockwell or Campaign for Liberty then I would only know what a tiny portion of the population is thinking. I’d only be singing with the choir. Also, if we’re to put this country back on her feet after the Liberals are done destroying it - there aren’t enough Libertarians to do it alone. We got to make friends and take sides, and most likely infiltrate the Republican party with libertarians.
Most people think Libertarians or Anarco-cap’s are extremists. Don’t forget, almost 40% of Americans still think MaoBama is doing a great job and that we need to print, borrow and spend our way out of a depression.
how easily people forget. so did the neo-conservatives think this too and did it. that’s why there’s a whole self-reflection going on in the republican party. they can’t do what they say - never have. Levin rants against Ron P. and calls Ron P. a kook. he says anybody that thinks like Ron P. isn’t a true liberty fighter. at least the left has the so-called peace-nik nature (though just like the neocon’s neither side ever does what they preach) whatever, it’s the same old drabb
Do Liberal’s not want to police the world? What have I missed? Did Al Gore not talk about our responsibility to police the world and nation build? Did Obama, when accepting his Nobel peace prize, not talk about his “just” war? They’re all interventionists, but at least Levin and the neo-cons don’t promote the welfare state, or the complete takeover of the means of production. We’ll worry about the neo-cons once we get rid of the so-called “progressives.” The enemy of my enemy is my friend.
