Minsky and Mises

What evidence exists that suggests that Minsky plagiarized Mises in terms of business cycles? Could Minsky have come up with his theory independently?

What at all is Misesian about Minsky’s theory?

Minsky’s theory is not Misesian, per se. However, Minky’s focus on debt and the FIH has similarities to what Mises would call malinvestment. When I first read Minsky (before I knew anything about his background), I thought his theory was compatible with the Austrians. That was until I read his solution, government intervention, then I knew for sure it was not Austrian friendly.

From the wikipedia article, it seems to me he correctly identified the proximate causes of malinvestment in business cycles, but completely ignores the ultimate causes from which these stem because he considered them to be an endogeneous outcome of the free market. Essentially, people get greedy all of a sudden because of the “animal spirits” and do some stupid things so wise government needs to come in and restrict them.

These kinds of people flabbergast me.

I found the thread the suggested that Minsky plagiarized:
