For those who haven’t figured it out, the “joke” in the Onion piece was a satire aimed at all of the clowns (sorry, ‘experts’) you see on TV, in magazines, etc. declaring with authority that “nobody needs this, nobody wants that, this is a waste, that is useless, blah blah blah something is wrong we better do something about it!” when people are out there buying this stuff like crazy because it’s what they value. There is no problem, they just don’t share your preferences and that’s OK.

At least, that’s what I got out of it.

You, a person who has at least 147 posts on a Ludwig von Mises Institute forum. I hardly think what you got out of it says anything about what the general public would get out of it. That was more or less my whole point.

It was just an opener to my story about my initial reaction to the product, not an attempted rebuttal to your quoted statement.

I think you misunderstood the intent of my post, presumably due to my choice of quotable lines. I didn’t read half of the thread, including any point you may have made about what the public gets out if it. I decided to go on about what I thought the meaning of the video was due to statements made by Izzy and Filc.
