Just stumbled on this article by Gene Callahan:

This is the best short article I have read in a while I have had Oakshott on my Amazon wishlist for a while now, this has prompted me to order one or two of his books on my next order. Suggestions?
On a curious note the article mentions the whole “creative genius” thing in HA. I never really “got” that part, even after reading the article.
Well what Oakeshott is best known for is his essay Rationalism in Politics. Which rejects rationalism ability to represent political life, viewing the rationalistic doctrine as a mental crutch that can retard a real education. Oakshott is like Hayek in his highlighting of tacit knowledge & distaste for oversteping the bounds of reason. However Oakshott view is more fundemental then Hayek rejecting his work as still ultimatly a rationalistic doctrine. Someone like Rothbard would probably be the anti-Oakshott with his insistence on going back to rationalistically defined principles in political decision making.
I have only read this essay so am not really able to comment on the other works and how they might relate to Mises.
