Mises.org Articles Legacy Links 404

This is for David V, and anyone who is an editor at Wikipedia.

I was looking at the Cato’s Letters entry on Wikipedia, and noticed that the link to Mises.org

mises.png

was this

Which gives a 404 (Page Not Found) error as the permalink structure at Mises.org has changed.

The correct URL is now http://mises.org/daily/1355

I think that this can be fixed globally in the .htaccess file (or Windows equivalent), and it might be worth a log audit to see how many backlinks with the old URL structure are generating 404s errors.

Also, anyone with Wikipedia editor privileges should probably update that link on the Cato’s Letters entry. I would do it, but non-editor edits get more scrutiny.

Also, I can probably find all of the bad backlinks from Wikipedia if someone is willing to spend some time to fix them. It might be two, or it might be twenty, but it won’t take very long.

Let me know.

There were two more links to fix on Wikipedia, if anyone is interested. Please reply to this thread if you will or have made these changes. Thanks.

Bad link: http://mises.org/fullstory.aspx?control=92&id=79

Should be: http://mises.org/daily/92

Bad link: http://mises.org/daily/1334

Should be: http://mises.org/daily/1334

All good finds! (The last one was actually forwarded correctly, but still.) They are fixed now, if you find any more, post them here.

Thank you very much Peter!

A lot of links to the PDF publications on Block/Kinsella/Hoppe’s WP sites are broken. IIRC it is because of a missing /uploads/ in the path.

Stephan Kinsella is the webmaster of those sites. He would be the person to notify.
