It is often remarked that everyone on here knows all the latin and greek fallacies. So we have all these smackdown catch phrases we can throw at people. They are a little too general for my taste though, and some ideas and argumentation styles are unique to the mises community. Here is a short list I’ve been drumming up to help us stay flashy:
Bon Sequitur – Follows very well
Is-Nought problem – When empiricism is irrelevant
Argumentum ad plauseum – When repeating an argument actually makes it stronger
Post chalk ergo propter hoc – Ideas can change the world
Iron Man – When you reconstruct a stronger version of your opponent’s philosophy and destroy it anyway.
Slippery Nope – Saying “no” to mainstream ideas so often that you accidentally oppose a good libertarian policy.
Tu croquet – Doubting the sincerity of wealthy leftists
Argumentum ad Popugun – When the majority not only disagrees, but is willing to shoot you over it
