Are there examples of moneyless societies that you know of? How did they do? Specific examples appreciated.
There have been a few small moneyless communes, but they tended to end up as suicide cults. And even they bought things from outsiders.

Well, that is an interesting example. I might even use it. However, one could attribute their failure to they being an extremely primitive society.
How does this work, don’t these people trade.
Most haciendas, farms, and plantations would fit here. Although very few of them grow very large, and everyone is likely closely related.
