My question for Bernanke submitted to the News Hour

The News Hour is taking questions for Ben Bernanke’s upcoming appearance. This is the one I submitted. I hope others submit too. The more they get of the same critical variety, the more they will feel obliged to ask him at least one.

There is a new video on YouTube made up of statements you made in 2005-2007. In the clips you deny that there is a serious housing bubble, and characterize the economy as fundamentally strong. Why did Peter Schiff, an adherent of the Austrian School of economics, understand the underlying weakness of the economy before 2008 so much better than a mainstream economist like yourself with all the statistics you have directly at your disposal as Fed Chairman?

A loaded question he will never answer but I applaud you in making it so concise and for logically deducing it.
